Rugby is, now more than ever, a truly global game. Its culture and values – those of hard-work, mutual respect, generosity and fellowship – span the globe.
Whatever England’s fate in the last Rugby World Cup, the competition was a compelling celebration of this ‘World in Union’, and the visit of Eddie Jones and the Japan Rugby squad to Warwick School, brought this home to us.
I am delighted that our senior pupils will have the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the game and its culture and values, both on and off the pitch, in Australia and New Zealand. They will, I am certain, be struck by the astonishing differences that exist in wealth and experiences; however, I am equally certain that they will find profound similarities too, as well as camaraderie and friendship wherever they go. I am extremely proud, too, that they will represent our school and club and I know they will prove to be exceptional ambassadors.
I wish the whole touring party, players, staff and supporters alike, a wonderful and memorable tour and the very best of luck.
